Why is the timer resetting?

The site adds 30 minutes (when about 1 hour remains) to every bet to prevent bot sniping

I just read it better: every bid in the last 10 minutes will extend the auction

Not going to lie, kind of terribly disappointed that I lost the bid because of such a feature when I made my bid at the last minute.

It's to prevent bid sniping. It's a common thing on most auction sites to allow any active bidders a chance to respond to other bids rather than just giving it to the person that puts a bid in right before the timer ends.
