TableSalt is citing YCH site rules, since I believe the site goes by German(?) law about use of red cross symbols. Under those, the red cross symbol is reserved for real life red cross personnel only, and can't be used in cartoons, illustrations, or other media (or at least that's what I remember). Different colored cross symbols are acceptable, though.
It’s not German law, it’s international law, enacted with the signing of the Geneva Convention after WWII. The Red Cross and Red Crescent can land someone in deep trouble, with many filmmakers and game developers having been handed C&D orders under penalty of criminal charges for failure to comply.
