It's actually something of a gamble. I've seen what you described happen before, but I've also seen artists just color in the silly sketch. I even had one artist do one for me that was the silly sketch, but they did professional shading and coloring on it. It was BEAUTIFUL, but super silly.

Just as an update: Both pins created with this image have arrived safely at my house. They both look just as good as the image itself, and were shipped quickly. Once again, I'm fully satisfied with all of this!

A good price compared to the $20 auctions we see here a lot? Maybe not. A good price compared to what you'd likely have to pay to commission a particular piece? Most definitely. Besides, I've seen some big names go for fairly low. You just have to keep an eye out and not bid yourself up into infinity.
